WILLOW (Women in Leadership: Leadership Observatory for Wales) is an innovative project to support organisations who seek to change their culture around gender equality and to support women who have perceived or encountered barriers to getting past mid-level leadership roles in their careers eg due to gender; disability; ethnicity; sexuality; background.
Swansea University is one of the core partners in this exciting new initiative for which funding is currently being sought.
We will gather intelligence and hold a mirror to best practice models from cultural leaders who have been able to progress to the top within their organisations. We will recruit women who have reached mid-level leadership within cultural organisations but found it difficult to progress further. We will support individuals and organisations through a range of initiatives such as job-swaps; short-term placements; professional development planning; 360 degree peer appraisals; mentoring and coaching; discussion forums (physical and virtual) gatherings and events. Possibilities will be explored to exploit UK-wide and international opportunities if appropriate. Every participant, from the core partners, first-tier secondary partner organisations and cohort organisations will be supported through the implementation of Action Learning Sets.
This project is currently in development.
